Course Description
Are you bursting with creative ideas and interested in a career in the art and design industry? This course will introduce the essential skills and principles you need to work successfully in the industry or progress to higher level study.

Learners studying Graphic Design & Media courses at Redbridge College have the benefit of training at FX Studios, the college's own visual arts and media company. Supervised by our highly-trained and experienced teaching staff, you'll also be equipped with the latest software in our graphic design and editing suites.
How long is the course and when will it start?:
This is a full-time, one-year course starting in September.
What are the entry requirements?:
You will need to have achieved three GCSEs at Grade D or above, have completed a Level 1 or Level 2 qualification or to have undertaken suitable work experience.
What will I study?:
Units you will study include:
- Introduction to graphic design
- Packaging design
- Photography
- 3D design.
Plus a range of specialist units to chose from.
Functional Skills:
16-18: You will also study English, maths and ICT to support your main course.
19+: You may study one of the functional skills if appropriate.
How will I be taught and assessed?:
You'll be taught by our highly skilled team of staff who will pass on their years of industry knowledge and experience to you. Assessment takes place through a mixture of creative, practical and written projects.
Equipment and resources:
All technical equipment you will need for the course will be provided by the college. In addition you will be expected to buy materials and books required for the course.
Progression and career opportunities:
On successful completion of this course you will be able to further enhance your skills and knowledge by progressing to a relevant BTEC Level 3 Diploma at Redbridge College. Alternatively, you could enter employment at a junior level in areas including web design, graphic design and interior design.
Further information:
Your English, maths and ICT skill levels will be assessed during the first two weeks of your programme and you will be assigned classes or workshops to help you develop these skills at the levels most appropriate for you. Attendance at these classes or workshops is compulsory for students of all ages.
