“I started at the college from scratch, after coming from Afghanistan with only a little English, and enrolled on an ESOL course. Once my English was strong enough I did level 2 and 3 accounting before securing a place at Middlesex University, where I am now. I have been coming back to the college to do work experience in the finance department during the summer – my friends can’t believe I’m choosing to work during the holidays but I really enjoy it and feel so happy here. Everybody is so friendly and supportive and the teachers do their best to help you, even after you have finished the course.
“People think that accountancy is just about maths and that it’s boring but I love it. There’s so much more to it than just sums, such as the theory behind it and the systems used. The accountancy courses at this college are really good and the teachers are fantastic – I’d really recommend studying here. I feel that Redbridge College has made me who I am.”
Fowzeia Torkmani, Level 2 and 3 Accountancy courses
“Studying at Redbridge College gave me more than an education; the tutorial support, educational visits and guest speakers as well as the diverse extra-curricular activities prepared me for a life beyond College.”
