Back from a relaxing holiday and already college has been keeping me so busy with work and exciting events that long phone conversations with friends have to wait till weekends!
The new assignments are very exciting – my first assignment is on ‘Even Driven Programming’ in which we create our own computer program and choose which events we want to take place and what demands each objects have (a lot more creatively fun to do then it sounds).
Tuesday was another fun day for me as I visited a secondary school in my role as student ambassador to talk about Redbridge College and inform students how they would benefit from joining the college and what being a student at the college is really like.
Wednesday was the college’s Advice Night for prospective students. It was very busy night so I was barely able to have time to eat the delicious food that the catering students from Rouge Restaurant were distributing to everyone. I managed the interview room that evening where prospective students were able to have their interviews for full-time courses.
Thursday was an especially interesting day for me as I was chosen for ‘Learner Voice’ with two other students, we were asked to interview potential full-time tutors. This benefitted me in gaining experience and an understanding of the job interview process. We asked them a range of questions that we as students would expect from them.
For example, what skills they would bring into their teaching and how they would work with the level of diversity in the college, as we are an ethically and culturally diverse student population. The tutors that were being interviewed were part-time who wanted to become permanent teachers at Redbridge College and have their own tutor group.
