Meet our new student blogger - Rebecca

Hello, my name’s Rebecca, I’m a Redbridge College student in my first year of a two year level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education. I attended a secondary school in London before moving to Elm Park and applying for this college. The main reason that I favoured this college above the two others I visited was because the teachers seemed friendly but also supportive.

Well, in the past month we had the Christmas holidays; it was so lovely to have a break although it felt strange having very little work to do!

As part of my course, I have to attend a voluntary work placement in a nursery for the two days I’m not in college, which I had to attend for three weeks before the Christmas holidays. It was very tiring compared to my usual Thursday and Friday but I enjoyed it so much. Whilst there, I was visited by a member of staff. I was told I was doing very well and was asked if I had any problems, which I didn’t. We filled in lots of paper work and I set myself some targets to meet before the next time I am visited.

During the three weeks, I also had to submit my first assignment, which I was very nervous about. When I first heard that we would not be in college for our submission date I was worried in case I needed any help or advice, but soon after leaving I realised that there are so many ways to contact the lecturers that I needn’t have worried and that any problems I had were easily sorted.

Now that my first assignment is done, I’m working on my next one which has been set for homework, whilst spending time with family and shopping in the remaining sales. Happy New Year!
