Career Academy

The UK Career Academy was set up in 2001. It is supported by some of the biggest names in British business. By linking academic study with employment, Career Academies allow students to broaden their future education and career choices.

Careers Academy at Redbridge College

Redbridge College’s business studies department joined the scheme in 2008 and has already seen changes in the attitudes and ambitions of participating level 3 students. Within only a few months, students have visited three established businesses and attended an inspirational convention with approximately 1000 other students from around the country. Students also benefit from the following:

  • A six-week paid internship during the summer to practice what they have learned and develop new skills
  • One-to-one mentoring by business professionals who provide support and advice on coursework and life skills
  • Participation in employer-led seminars, work-site visits, practice interviews and CV development sessions
  • Extra UCAS points through the additional study of finance

Careers Academy at Redbridge College

Being a Career Academy student is hard work and it won't suit everybody. You have to be prepared to put in extra hours of study, live up to a leading company's expectations of its own employees and be ready to work as part of a team of like-minded young people. Your tutors will push you and have high demands and expectations - but the rewards are worth it.
