Career Academy Meet Top Executives

Career Academy meet Top ExecutiveTuesday 9th of February saw executives from a range of high profile organisations, including some well known FTSE 100 companies, visit Redbridge College to meet students who they will be mentoring as part of the college’s Career Academy programme.

Directors and Managers from companies including Barclays, Morgan Stanley, Novotel and Transport for London (TfL) arrived to the back drop of a saxophonist before listening to speeches from the College Principal, Head of Business and the Career Academy students themselves.

The informal networking event provided Career Academy students with an insight into the advice and guidance that they can expect to receive from their mentors over the next two years.

Career Academy Student Waqar said, “I wanted a mentor to learn new business skills and to gain advice which will be beneficial to my future. My mentor has links in Finance, which I am interested in. He will arrange for me to visit CitiBank.

“The Ice-breaker event was good and I learned a lot about my mentor straight away.”

The prestigious Career Academy programme offers Level 3 Business Studies students the chance to gain a real insight into the world of business whilst creating established links with executives at the top of their profession. Students not only gain valuable advice from established professionals but also, on successful completion of the finance module, receive extra UCAS points.

The college’s Career Academy scheme takes on between 12-15 level 3 Business Studies students per year who are then each assigned a mentor from a renowned organisation. In many cases the mentoring scheme continues after the students have left college, providing a platform for future business success.
