Why choose Redbridge College?
You will be able to get involved in real, commercial projects for external clients, and get valuable work experience through our two onsite companies: Last Word Records and FX Studios. Both companies give you an opportunity to take part in all parts of running an independent business, and could lead to marketing campaigns, music tours, albums, music videos and photoshoots. Plus, by choosing to study at a college rather than moving to a university campus you could save thousands of pounds each year on travel and accomodation.
To enrol on the Creative Industries course, you will need to apply through the UCAS website, www.ucas.com. Click 'course search', entering W902 as the course code. July 2011 update: UCAS applications for September 2011 are now closed. Late applicants for the Foundation Degree should contact Dee Northcombe at Redbridge College directly on 020 8548 7429 to submit a late application.
What next?
Complete a third year at the University of East London to gain a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) Degree or go straight into employment in the music and media industries. As a graphic designer you can work in the publishing sector, designing layouts for newspapers and magazines, or as an illustrator. In media choose from careers ranging from 3D animation on the next Disney blockbuster, to editing movies or TV shows. In the music industry, choose from a range of roles as diverse as songwriter, talent scout, musician, teacher, DJ, producer, composer or studio engineer - the choice is yours.
What our students say:
"Getting to study at college rather than university has allowed me to have more one-on-one access to the tutors, which has been great for my first year."
Mark Hunter, Foundation Degree in Creative Industries
"I feel more comfortable at college than I would at university - some of the universities I visited were old fashioned and looked like hospitals. I like the people and the atmosphere much better at college, plus I save a lot of money because I don't have to travel into London - Redbridge College is much closer to me."
Lavinia Scott, Foundation Degree in Creative Industries
Authorised Apple Training Centre
Redbridge College is now an Authorised Apple Training Centre, which means that through the college you can become Apple Certified in Logic Pro. This professional application streamlines the process of recording, editing, and mixing your music whether you work in a state-of-the-art studio or even in your own garage.
Why you should become an Apple Certified Pro:
- Raise your earning potential. Studies show that certified professionals can earn more than their non-certified peers
- Distinguish yourselves from others in your industry. Proven mastery of technology helps you stand out from the crowd
- Increase your marketability. Hiring managers tend to favour candidates whose knowledge and skills are validated by certification.
- Advance more quickly in your career. Take control of your career in a fast-paced, dynamic world.
- With shortages in many specialised fields, certification can give you control of your own path and help you progress more quickly through the ranks.
- Publicise your Apple Certification. Each certification provides a logo to display on business cards, resumes and websites. In addition, you can publish your certifications on the Apple Certified Professionals Registry to connect with schools, clients and employers.
In order to gain your Apple Certified Pro certificate you will need to be a music student at Redbridge College and apply through the college's customer services.
