Fundraiser set to ‘Pimp Calvin’s Ride’
Redbridge College Foundation Degree students are organising a fundraising event to raise money for 16 year old Calvin Hall who was a victim of a road traffic accident in 2008.
Calvin suffered extensive brain injury and a massive trauma as a result of the accident in November 2008 and remained in hospital for a further 2 years. He is currently in rehabilitation at The Children's Trust hospital in Tadworth.
The students are aiming to raise enough money to assist Calvin and his family in obtaining funds for a motorized wheelchair which will improve his quality of life. The event will also aid the students in achieving their qualification as they were required to organise a charitable event that engaged with the local community and liaise with local businesses.
The event, called ‘Pimp Calvin’s Ride’, will take place on Sunday 24 April at the Cauliflower pub in Ilford at 2pm. The fundraiser will start with a short presentation on road safety and then will jump straight into performances from local dance troupes, singers, an African drum band, a comedian and three live bands including former foundation degree student band Derelict Highway.
An auction and raffle will feature on the night so if you have any unwanted gifts or items to donate please bring them along on the night.
