Students' promotional video proves a hit with top catering firm

THREE creative learners at Redbridge College have seen a promotional video they produced for leading contract catering firm Elior snapped up by the organisation.
Learners Siavash Karimitari, 20, Christopher Williams, 18, and Georgia Nott, 19, were triumphant from three teams of students who were given a real-life project brief by Elior to create a new, edgy promotional video for the college’s REDs student restaurant.
The learners, who all study BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative and Media Production at the college, were challenged to create a concept and then produce a finished piece to showcase REDs to students across Redbridge College.
On Wednesday 30 May 2012 the three final videos were presented to a judging panel comprised of Lorraine Herbert (Promotions Manager at Elior), Matt Joblin (Offer Development Manager at Elior), Herbie Spence (Redbridge College Vice Principal, Corporate Services), Sharon Sullivan (Curriculum Manager, Hospitality & Catering) and Sarah Plater (Redbridge College Marketing and Events Manager).
And the panel was so impressed with Siavash, Christopher and Georgia’s video, which centered on an FBI theme and also starred Siavash and Christopher, that it will now be used by Elior as part of their national promotional package.

Speaking on behalf of Elior, Matt Joblin said: “Working with learners at Redbridge College proved to be an inspiration.
"Their hard work, creativity and commitment resulted in the production of a more edgy, less corporate communication piece that we will use to not only promote REDs at Redbridge College but also beyond to inspire many more great working partnerships.”
He added: “As one of the leading contract catering companies in the UK, it's great to have an opportunity to work with young people and clients outside of our day-to-day operations and to be able to add value with the resources and support we can offer.”
The project was tailored towards the demands of the students’ curriculum on the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Creative and Media Production course, and formed part of their assessment.
Elior awarded £250 prize money to the winning students and has donated a further £250 to Redbridge College’s Graphic Design & Media department.
