Course Description

All our courses take place in our well-equipped salon where you can learn hairdressing skills and client procedures in a professional environment. This course will provide you with the opportunity to gain experience and obtain an NVQ level 3 qualification.

What qualifications do I get?

VTCT Level 3 (NVQ) Diploma in Hairdressing (QCF).

How will I be assessed?

Assessments are continuous throughout the year on paying clients. You will be required to produce a portfolio containing evidence of practical and theory work.

What standards do I need in order to join the course?

Level 2 Diploma in Hairdressing
5 GCSE’s at C or equivalent
Evidence of employment or guaranteed work experience for the duration of the course.

What will I study?

Monitor procedures to safely control work operations,
Creatively cut hair using a combination of techniques,
Contribute to the planning and implementation of promotional activities,
Creatively dress long hair,
Provide hairdressing consultation services,
Promote additional services of products to customers,
Colour hair using a variety of techniques,
Provide colour correction services.

Vocational Study Skills:
16-18: You will also study English and Maths

What equipment will I need

Redbridge College uniform (a uniform form will be made available on enrolment)
Full hairdressing kit (a kit list will be made available on enrolment)

Progression into salon management, artistic director, training, staff teaching and assessing, cruise ships and colour technician.
