Course Description

1 Year course to develop your football skills. Along side this you will gain a level 2 academic qualification. Non-attendance on the academic part will mean withdrawal from the football scholarship. Academic studies will be linked to the football syllabus as far as possible. You will have the opportunity to attend coaching sessions and play for the College Football Team. Students must be 18 or under on the 31st August to enrol on this course.

What qualifications do I get?

NOCN Level 2 Diploma for Progression.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed by compiling a portfolio of evidence, which will come from both written and practical assessments.
At Levels 1 and 2 key skills consist of a portfolio and an on-line test.

What standards do I need in order to join the course?

3 GCSE's at grade D or above including Maths and English Language.
Students will have to attend a Football Trial (based on ability and potential), once selected from this you will be assessed for the level of course you will study.

What will I study?

You will study:
Practical Football Skills,
Building a Personal Career Portfolio,
Healthy Living,
Personal Physical Fitness,
Development of Group & Teamwork Communication Skills,
Other health related topics.

Vocational Study Skills:
16 - 18: You will also study English, Maths and ICT to support your main course.
19+: You may study one of the vocational study skills if appropriate.

Vocational Study Skills:
Vocational Study Skills: Developing the vocational study skills of English, maths and ICT is crucial to your success on this programme and future career. Employers and higher education institutions now also recognise the value of these additional qualifications and look for evidence of competence in applications and at interview. Level two vocational study skills qualifications will be recognised by universities as evidence of your competence in these subjects.

It is important that you have achieved vocational study skills qualifications at appropriate levels if you wish to progress to higher level courses at Redbridge College. Your skill levels will be assessed during the first two weeks of your programme and you will be assigned classes or workshops to help you develop these skills at the levels most appropriate for you. Attendance at these classes or workshops is compulsory for students aged under 19.
