Welcome to Hairdressing
We offer a wide selection of part-time and full-time courses in Hairdressing to prepare you for a successful career.
You will earn commission while you learn with us in our excellent facilities at Chadwell Heath and have the opportunity to work in our commercial salon Urban Oasis. You’ll be provided with a free professional salon kit and will gain valuable experience in a real working environment by working on paying customers . You will be learning in a fantastic environment, using state –of- the- art equipment, with teachers who are industry professionals and have the opportunity to work with real clients. We have high expectations of our students and regularly enter competitions, attend trade shows and organise trips which will give you an insight into what employment opportunities are available in this diverse and exciting sector.
Hairdressing can really take you places, with a constant demand worldwide for barbers, stylists and beauticians. Many of our previous students have gone onto work for well- known hair salons, set up their own mobile businesses and even opened their own salons after completing courses with us. You can also gain employment on film sets, work in a salon or on board a cruise ship. Alternatively, you could continue your studies in further education and become a teacher or assessor. You will also have the opportunity to study additional professional courses with us throughout the year. We will support you in gaining qualifications in English and maths if you haven’t got GCSEs 9-4 and help you to find interesting work experience placements to enhance your job opportunities.

Rhys Taylor (Level 2 Diploma in Barbering)
“I completed the course just two months after enrolling. It’s not like being stuck in a classroom at school. Every day was exciting and you learn a lot from the people around you. I love the lifestyle you have as a hairdresser, meeting different people every day.”
“There’s great banter, and I don’t really see it as work; I see it as something I enjoy. Every day is different and I’m always learning something new. My aim is to learn to be an assessor and have my own salon, to give people the same training opportunities I’ve had.”
“Every day of training at New City College was exciting. Now when I get up each day, I don’t feel like I’m going to work. I feel like I’m heading off to do something I enjoy.”
